This exquisite
beauty was bought from a very well known trunk restorer from New Hampshire. Though
we don't have any before pictures of her, she was in very rough shape. This sensational dresser trunk comes with all its
original draws & inside top lid components. The three pull out draws still have their original pulls tabs. We lined the
bottom of each including the very bottom inside with a nice soft blue / gray fabric.
We removed
the dirty worn out canvas from the
exterior, then sanded down all the pine to rid her of any old water stains inside & out. Five coats of Formby's
low gloss tung oil were hand brushed & rubbed into the wood to give her a beautiful low shine. The oak slats were removed
and given the same treatment, then stained using our own special stain given them a nice rustic color. All end caps,
drawbolts & lock and including all metal trim were stripped of any rust & repainted with a satin black Rust-oleum
paint. There are a total of four locking drawbolts on the trunk. One on each end & two on the front. The drawbolts on
the front are dated May 21, 74. The original lock was broken, so a replacement is in its place with a working key.The interior
also had its musty smelling paper lining removed, sanded and tung oiled as well. Not stopping there we stripped the metal
bottom on the outside and painted it with Rust-oleum black paint for added protection for the future. Finally, the original
leather handles had broken over the years, so a new set of replacements handles were reattached for easy moving. As you
might expect the trunk is very heavy. This lady really is a nice conversation piece and would highlight any room. Plus,
with all the storage one can ask for in a trunk to keep your valuables safe and sucure.
