This rare
Jenny Lind brass bound trunk was purchased on December 10, 2006 from a couple in Burlington, MA..The
couple were in their late 60’s and had stated the trunk once belonged to the husbands mother. This is a rare hour glass style of Jenny Lind trunk. The leather covering the trunk was dry rotted & had
to be removed. All the brass bound metal trim was then cleaned and polished back to a very clean shine. The entire inside
& outside of the trunk was sanded down to a smooth finish. The oak slats covering the bottom of this beauty had rotted
away & new old oak slats were installed back on to protect the bottom. The
brass lock was also cleaned & polished back to a beautiful shine, though the lock & latch are complete there’s
no key for it at this time. Both leather handles were long gone & had to have replacements put back on the sides, attached
with round brass top nails. The entire trunk in covered with these round to[p brass nails, which is common for Jenny Lind
trunks. The entire trunk, both interior & exterior was coated with four coats of Formby’s Tung Oil, for protect
& shine. She is excellent condition considering she’s over 150 years old.
