This little
beauty was bought on February 24, 2007
from a very nice lady named Kathy in Woburn, MA. This is a sensational child’s humpback doll trunk, as these little humpbacks are quite hard to find
in this excellent condition. This trunk had been in the family the better part of the last 70 years. She still has her original
wooden handles on the sides & both are in excellent condition which is almost impossible to find. The lock & latch though
complete was missing its locking mechanism, one was hand made & welded back in place, so the trunk can now lock once again.
The original inlet tray was gone, a beautiful replacement tray was built, by my good friend John Head in Florida. This
little lady was completely stripped of what little original paper covering remained on the outside. The inside also had its
musty smelling paper lining removed. The entire trunk was then sanded down to a very smooth finish. All the end caps &
slat caps were removed & cleaned of any rust. The flower design tin on the
front & lid was cleaned of any rust & remaining paint. Then all pieces were covered with a rust-oleum clear cover
sealer. All metal binding was also stripped of the rust & dirt. The repainted with rust-oleum glossy black. The entire
trunk was then given five coats of Minwax Tung oil to give it major protection & its beautiful shine.
